Piotr is a Stanford Certified Project Manager skilled at providing means & methods to project & program organization & management. He joined the commercial world in Palo Alto, California through an engineering & scientific consulting company Exponent devoted to solving questions related to accidents & failures in physical products & to prevention of such failures. Exponent performs either in-depth scientific research & analysis or very rapid-response evaluations to provide clients with the critical information that both day-to-day & strategic decisions require. Piotr was part of the executive team which through the rollercoaster of cultural change took the firm public & listed it on NASDAQ, hired & trained hundreds of brightest young Ph.D.’s the market had to offer. Piotr remains a Principal Engineer of Exponent, possibly the most prominent firm in its field in the world. He is also active in international business from power plant development projects, energy technologies & economics, to high-tech ventures.
In the late 1980’s, Piotr returned to Stanford University to share his real-world experience with graduate students. He serves as a Consulting Professor in the Civil Engineering Department of Stanford University. At Stanford he has been also active in defining & directing the Top500 Innovators Program of the Polish Ministry of Science & Higher Education.
Today, Piotr brings his Exponent multi-disciplinary experience of dealing with all the Fortune 500 corporations when an emergency help is needed, of working with start-ups on their technology challenges, & on due diligence assignments for banks & governmental investment funds around the world to “Innovative Poland – Innovative United States” bridging efforts. Piotr is a co-founder & chairman of US-Polish Trade Council, the principal motivator of US-Poland Innovation Hub (http://innovationhub-usptc.org/), a primary partner of the Polish National Center for Research & Development (NCBiR) in its program GoGlobal Poland. He served on the first Board of Directors of NCBiR. In addition, he is a member of the Polish Academy of Science Committee & a member of the Russian Academy of Technological Science, Fellow of American Society of Civil Engineers, a member of the Advisory Board of Forum Obywatelskiego Rozwoju (FOR), & a board member of San Francisco Global Trade Council. He is a frequent speaker in venues pertaining to stimulation of international cooperation with & investment into Polish high-tech sector.
Piotr started his professional education at a Vocational Road & Bridge Construction School in Poznań (TGD). He received M.S. in Civil Engineering, University of Colorado, Boulder & Ph.D. in civil/earthquake engineering at Stanford University. He is also a Stanford Certified Project Manager by Stanford University Advanced Project Management.
Piotr received numerous awards such as John A. Blume Fellow; E. Kwiatkowski Economy Award of Poland; Gold Engineer Award 2010 of “Technical Review” & Council of Engineers & Technicians of Poland; Polonia Technica, New York, Honorary Membership Award.
